Series Description
Every child is forming beliefs about God. They are deciding who He is, what He is like, and whether He can be trusted. The question is not if they are becoming theologians. The question is whether their beliefs are being shaped by truth.
Theology simply means the study of God. This semester, we are helping kids discover what is true about Him. We will explore His character, nature, rescue plan, and promises. Over these 10 weeks, we will walk through the core beliefs that have shaped Christians for generations.
Our prayer is that because of who God is, every child will know that:
• They can trust Him completely.
• They are made in His image with value and purpose.
• Jesus came to rescue them from sin.
• Salvation is a gift of grace, not something they earn.
• The Holy Spirit is at work in them right now.
• They belong to God’s family, the Church.
• Their story ends with real and lasting hope.
Our goal is not just information. It is conviction.
We want kids to move from “I’ve heard about God” to “This I Believe.”
From borrowed faith to owned faith.
From uncertainty to confidence in what is true.
When children know who God is, they stand steadier in a confusing world. They grow in discernment. They develop courage. They build a faith that lasts.
This semester, we are not just teaching theology. We are helping kids say with confidence, This I Believe.
Memory Verse
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 17:3
Week 1 | What is Theology (March 4)
What Is Theology?
Lesson: What Is Theology?
Bottom Line: Theology is learning what is true about God from the Bible.
Memory Verse: What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:13
This week, we introduce theology as simply knowing and understanding who God is. Kids will learn that everyone believes something about God, but theology helps us build our beliefs on what is true. We’ll explore why it matters that what we believe shapes how we live, and we’ll begin laying a foundation for a faith that is thoughtful, confident, and rooted in Scripture.
Week 2 | What is God Like? (March 11)
What Is God Like?
Lesson: What Is God Like?
Bottom Line: God is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and always present.
Memory Verse: Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Psalm 90:2
This week, we explore the attributes of God — who He is and what He is like. Kids will discover that God is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and perfectly loving. Rather than imagining God however we want, we’ll learn that God reveals Himself to us through His Word, and what He reveals is bigger and better than we could ever invent.
Week 3 | God the Father (March 18)
God the Father
Lesson: God the Father
Bottom Line: God the Father is Creator and King who loves us and calls us His children.
Memory Verse: See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 1 John 3:1
This week, we focus on God as our Father, creator, judge, and Father who calls us his children. Kids will see that God made everything with purpose, lovingly cares for His creation, and rules with righteousness and fairness. We’ll help them understand that God’s fatherhood is strong, wise, and trustworthy.
Week 4 | God the Son (March 25)
God the Son
Lesson: God the Son
Bottom Line: Jesus is fully God and fully man — our Redeemer, Intercessor, and Lord.
Memory Verse: The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
This week, we turn our attention to Jesus, fully God and fully man. Kids will learn that Jesus didn’t just teach about God — He is God the Son who came to rescue us. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus makes a way for us to be forgiven and brought into a relationship with God.
Week 5 | God the Spirit (April 1)
God the Spirit
Lesson: God the Spirit
Bottom Line: The Holy Spirit is God with us, helping us follow Jesus every day.
Memory Verse: But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:26
This week, we discover who the Holy Spirit is and what He does. Kids will learn that the Holy Spirit is not a force, but a Person — fully God — who lives with us and in believers. He teaches us, guides us, comforts us, and helps us grow to become more like Jesus.
Week 6 | Made in God’s Image (April 15)
Made in God’s Image
Lesson: Made in God’s Image
Bottom Line: We were made in God’s image, but sin broke our relationship with Him.
Memory Verse: So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
This week, we look at how God created us in His image, with purpose and designed for a relationship with Him. Kids will learn that while we were created good, sin entered the world and broke that relationship. Even though God’s image is still in us, it has been distorted by sin. This lesson helps kids understand both their value and their need for God to restore what was broken.
Week 7 | The Great Rescue (April 22)
The Great Rescue
Lesson: The Great Rescue
Bottom Line: Jesus died and rose again to rescue us from sin.
Memory Verse: For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. 1 Corinthians 15:3–4
This week, we see how Jesus came to rescue us from sin. Kids will learn that sin created a debt we could never pay, but Jesus took our place and paid it in full through His death and resurrection. This lesson helps them understand that Jesus didn’t just help us, He fully rescued us. It also sets up the idea that salvation is something we receive, not something we earn.
Week 8 | Saved by Grace (April 29)
Saved by Grace
Lesson: Saved by Grace
Bottom Line: I am saved by grace through faith in Jesus — not by being good enough.
Memory Verse: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —
and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8–9
This week, we focus on what it means to be saved by grace through faith in Jesus. Kids will learn that we cannot earn our way to God, no matter how hard we try. Instead, salvation is a gift that God freely gives, and our role is to trust Him and receive it. This lesson helps clarify the difference between earning and receiving, and invites kids to respond to what Jesus has done.
Week 9 | New LIfe (May 6)
New Life
Lesson: New Life
Bottom Line: God is changing me now, and He will finish His work forever.
Memory Verse: Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
This week, we explore what happens after we put our faith in Jesus. Kids will learn that while we are made new in an instant, God continues to change us over time. This is a process where we grow to become more like Jesus through everyday choices. With the help of the Holy Spirit, kids will see that real change happens step by step.
Week 10 | We Belong (May 13)
We Belong
Lesson: We Belong
Bottom Line: The Church is God’s family
Memory Verse: And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another. Hebrews 10:24–25
This week, we discover what the church really is and why it matters. Kids will learn that the church is not a building, but a people, God’s family, following Jesus together. Each person has a role to play, and we grow stronger when we are connected. This lesson challenges kids to move from simply attending to being part of what God is doing.
