Series Description
Deep down, everybody wants to be a super kid, and nothing defines super kid better than the word ‘brave.’ Being brave is a lot easier to say than do—for preschoolers and grownups. What we do to be brave—and Who can help us be brave—is what this month is all about. We can pray, like Esther, and be brave. We can remember that God is with us, like David, and be brave. We can trust what God says, like Gideon, and be brave. And when we pray, remember, and trust, God can help us be brave so we can help others, like Abigail.
We want our preschoolers to grow up knowing that when they are afraid, God can help them be brave, and that is what makes them a super kid. Join us as we pray for our preschoolers and their families, as well as those of us who lead them. Pray that we will look to God and God alone when we are afraid and have to do hard things, because God can help us be brave.
Memory Verse
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid … for the LORD your God goes with you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV

Queen Esther needs to go to the king to ask for help, but she knows that she could get in big trouble if she goes to the king without being invited. Esther really needs to be brave, so she asks God’s people to pray with her for three days. After they pray, Esther is brave and goes to the king. She asks him to keep God’s people safe, and the king says yes!

Gideon
Gideon | Judges 6-7
In week three, we will learn God can help me be brave—even when we are afraid. Gideon hides because he is afraid of a big army called the Midianites. They would steal everything God’s people had and keep it for themselves. One day, God sends an angel to Gideon. The angel tells Gideon, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.” (Judges 6:12 NIV) The angel tells Gideon that God wants him tonlead an army to defeat the Midianites. Gideon doesn’t understand because he is the smallest and least important one in his family. But the angel tells Gideon that God will be with him. Gideon trusts God, and he leads an army to defeat the Midianites.
Week 4 (October 26)
Abigail
Abigail | 1 Samuel 25:1-35
In week four, we will learn that God can help me be brave so I can help others. David and his men protect Nabal’s sheep and shepherds so nothing bad can happen to them. Sometime later, Nabal cuts the wool off his sheep. It is such a fun time, they have a party! So, David sends a few men to ask if they can have some food from the party, but Nabal is very mean to them. He says no, and David becomes very angry. Abigail, Nabal’s wife, knows she needs to be brave and help! She quickly brings a lot of food and drinks to David and his men, and David thanks God for her help.
