Series Description
Something powerful happens when a child learns to see the Bible as God’s Word — alive, trustworthy, and full of truth. When kids build their lives on Scripture, they grow strong and steady, like a tree planted by streams of water.
This semester, we want every child to know that because of God’s Word…
- They can live a life that bears fruit.
- They can stand firm when life is hard.
- They can find wisdom for the choices they face.
- They can grow in their love for God and others.
- They can be shaped into who God made them to be.
Memory Verse
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.
Palms 1:1-4
Week 1 | The Bible is God’s Word (September 3)
More Than a Book
Lesson: More Than a Book
Bottom Line: The Bible is God-breathed and full of life.
Memory Verse: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16
This week, kids will discover that the Bible is more than just a book — it is God’s Word. They will learn that Scripture is God-breathed, alive, and full of truth, written through real people but inspired by God’s Spirit. The Bible is useful for teaching us what is right, showing us when we are wrong, helping us get back on track, and training us to live God’s way.
Week 2 | One Big Story, Many Different Books (September 10)
The Bible is Many Books
Lesson: One Big Story, Many Different Books
Bottom Line: The Bible is one big story made of many books.
Memory Verse: Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105
This week, kids will discover that, despite the Bible comprising 66 different books written by approximately 40 authors across three continents and spanning 1,500 years, it tells a unified story. They will learn that God used people from diverse backgrounds — kings, prophets, fishermen, farmers, even a doctor and a tax collector — to write His Word in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Together, these many voices and books convey a single message: God’s grand rescue plan through Jesus.
Week 3 | God’s True Story (September 17)
God’s True Story
Lesson: God’s Word is True and Trustworthy
Bottom Line: The Bible tells God’s story, and it can be trusted.
Memory Verse: The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” Isaiah 40:8
This week, kids will discover that the Bible isn’t just another old book — it is God’s true story, preserved and proven over time. They will learn how the Bible came to us through careful copying, how it describes real people and real places, and how archaeology and fulfilled prophecy confirm its truth. Most importantly, they’ll see that God’s Word has endured for every generation, and they can build their lives on it with confidence.
Week 4 | Why So Many Bibles (September 24)
Why So Many Bibles
Lesson: God’s Word is for Everyone
Bottom Line: The Bible was written so I could understand God’s truth today.
Memory Verse: Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Matthew 24:35
This week, kids will explore why there are so many different versions of the Bible and discover how each one helps us understand God’s Word today. They will learn that the Bible was first written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, and that translators work carefully to bring those ancient words into modern languages. Through fun examples and comparisons, kids will see the difference between word-for-word and thought-for-thought translations and be reminded that, no matter the version, God’s Word communicates the same truth. Most importantly, they will discover that God’s Word is for everyone, in every language.
Week 5 | How the Bible is Organized (October 1)
How the Bible is Organized
Lesson: How the Bible is Organized
Bottom Line: Every part of the Bible tells God’s one big story.
Memory Verse: But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God… John 20:31
This week, kids will discover how the Bible is organized and why it matters. They will learn that the Bible is divided into two parts, the Old Testament with 39 books and the New Testament with 27 books, and that these books fit into different genres like Law, History, Poetry, Prophets, Gospels, Letters, and Prophecy. Through exploring each genre, kids will see how every section adds something unique to God’s story, from the Law that shows our need for a Savior to the Gospels that reveal Jesus’ life and mission. Most importantly, they will be reminded that even though the Bible has many parts, every book works together to tell one big story that points to Jesus.
Week 6 | The Bible is Alive (October 8)
The Bible is Alive
Lesson: God’s Word is Living and Active
Bottom Line: God still speaks to us through His Word today.
Memory Verse: For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword… Hebrews 4:12
This week, kids will discover that the Bible is not just an old book but God’s living Word that still speaks today. They will learn what it means for Scripture to be “alive and active” as Hebrews 4:12 describes, and how God’s Word continues to bring truth and life to every generation. Through fun comparisons with outdated slang, instructions, and silly old laws, kids will see how human words fade away while God’s Word never loses its power. Most importantly, they will be reminded that God’s Word can take root in their own lives like a seed that grows, changing hearts and shaping the way they live.
Week 7 | Listening for God’s Voice (October 15)
Listening for God’s Voice
Lesson: Learning to Listen
Bottom Line: I can hear God’s voice by reading His Word.
Memory Verse: My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27
This week, kids will learn that God still speaks to His people today and that we can hear His voice by spending time in His Word. They will see how God has spoken in both powerful and personal ways throughout the Bible, and how He continues to use nature, people, songs, and teaching to guide us. Most importantly, they will discover that the Bible is the most reliable way to recognize God’s voice, and that the more time they spend with Him, the more clearly they will know and follow Him. Through illustrations with a megaphone, a radio, and a shepherd calling his sheep, kids will be reminded that God’s voice is personal, trustworthy, and worth listening to.
Week 8 | Hiding God’s Word in My Heart (October 22)
Hiding God’s Word in My Heart
Lesson: The Greatest Treasure
Bottom Line: Memorizing Scripture helps me follow God every day.
Memory Verse: I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11
This week, kids will discover that memorizing Scripture is one of the best ways to follow God every day. Through Psalm 119:11, they will learn that hiding God’s Word in their hearts is like storing treasure that can guide and protect them. Using examples like movie quotes, jingles, and funny random facts we all remember, kids will see how powerful it is when God’s Word is the thing that sticks in their minds. Most importantly, they will be reminded that memorizing Scripture helps them hear God’s voice, renew their minds with truth, and fight temptation just like Jesus did in the wilderness.
Week 9 | Doing What the Bible Says (October 29)
Doing What the Bible Says
Lesson: Live it Out
Bottom Line: God’s Word is for doing, not just hearing.
Memory Verse: Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22
This week, kids will discover that the Bible is not just for learning but for living. Through James 1:22–25, they will see that hearing God’s Word without obeying it is like looking in a mirror and walking away without fixing anything. Using fun illustrations like messy hair in a mirror or cookies that never get baked, kids will be reminded that God’s Word only changes us when we put it into action. Most importantly, they will be challenged to live out what they’ve learned by showing kindness, honesty, and obedience in their everyday lives.
Week 10 | Rooted in God’s Word (November 5)
Rooted in God’s Word
Lesson: Living by God’s Word
Bottom Line: I can live by God’s Word in everything I do.
Memory Verse: Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8
This week, kids will learn that God’s Word is not just a guide to read but the foundation to live by every day. Through Joshua 1:8, they will see how God prepared Joshua to lead by keeping His Word on his lips, thinking about it day and night, and doing everything it says. With fun comparisons like building LEGOs without instructions or trying to travel without GPS, kids will understand that life without God’s Word leads to confusion, but following it leads to strength and success. Most importantly, they will be encouraged to let God’s Word guide their thoughts, words, and actions in everything they do.
