Series Description
In 1967, a new toy was introduced to the world, and on the box were these words:
Create Beautiful Pictures With . . . Light.
It was the LiteBrite®! The LiteBrite was an instant hit and has remained such a favorite for all these years that families are still having fun making pictures with light.
This month, we’re talking about a different kind of bright light. We’re talking about THE light that God sent into the world to shine bright for all the world to see. And THIS light has a name. His name is Jesus! Each time we choose to love like Jesus, we become a bright light. Just like each LiteBrite peg lights up to make a picture, each and every act of love is a bright light that makes a beautiful picture for the world to see Jesus.
Memory Verse
You are the light of the world.
Matthew 5:14
Key Question
Who can love like Jesus?
Bottom Line
I can love like Jesus!
Week 1 (September 1)
Jesus is the Light of the World
God sent Jesus to be the Light of the World. Jesus is not a light like a nightlight or a glow stick. Jesus is a light that helps us see how amazing God is. When Jesus helped people, He was a bright light showing us how God helps people. When Jesus forgave people, He was a bright light showing us how God forgives people. When Jesus loved people, He was a bright light showing us how God loves people and how we can love people too.
Week 2 (September 8)
Jesus is a Light for Everyone
Jesus sees a man who had been lying on a mat by a pool of water for a very long time because he could not walk. The man thought if he could get in the water, it would make him better, but he had no one to help him get into the water. Jesus loved the man and wanted to help him. Jesus healed the man because Jesus loves everyone, and Jesus came to be a light for everyone.
Week 3 (September 15)
Jesus said to Love one Another
Jesus told His followers to love one another the way He had loved them. And how did Jesus show them how to love like Him? Well, Jesus loved the little children. Jesus loved the Samaritan woman at the well, and Jesus loved Zacchaeus, a tax collector. Jesus loved everyone no matter what! That’s how Jesus loves, and that’s how Jesus commands us to love. And if Jesus says to love like Him, then I can love like Jesus!
Week 4 (September 22)
I am a Light When I Love Like Jesus
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” When we love like Jesus, we shine bright like a light! Just like a friend of Jesus named Philip. Philip saw a man sitting in a chariot. The man was reading God’s words, but the man needed help understanding what he was reading. Philip sat with the man and helped him understand God’s words. Philip chose to shine his light and help the man. Philip loved like Jesus, and we can love like Jesus too.
Week 5 (September 29)
I Love Like Jesus When I Help Others
Tabitha loved Jesus and knew the most important thing Jesus taught us to do is to love people the way Jesus loves people. Tabitha was good at sewing so she helped by making clothes for people. Helping others was how she loved like Jesus. We can love like Jesus too!
