BWE Overview
Best Weekend Ever is designed for you and your small group to step away from the ordinary and really connect. This weekend is about creating the kind of environment where preteens feel safe to share their fears, questions, doubts, and struggles. We want you to be the trusted leader or friend they can turn to when something is heavy on their hearts. Our goal is for every group to be a place where preteens know they will be received, accepted, and cared for, no matter what they bring. Throughout the weekend, we’ll worship together, laugh together, and make memories together. Our prayer is that preteens leave on Sunday feeling lighter, encouraged, and confident that they belong in a group that truly understands them.
BWE Theme
Carry Less, Live More
We all know what it’s like to make a choice we regret and then hear that voice inside saying we are broken, unforgivable, or less valuable. That voice is shame, and our preteens wrestle with it too. This weekend is about giving them a safe place in their small group to share their struggles openly. Together we’ll see how God meets us in our shame with love, forgiveness, and grace.
BWE Verse
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2
Logistics for All Volunteers
Friday Night
Session One: Put First Things First
Bottom Line: Put first things first
Text: Matthew 6:25, 31–33
Summary: Life in the preteen years feels packed full: school, sports, friends, activities, and worries. Just like an overstuffed bag, trying to carry it all leads to stress, anxiety, and pressure. Jesus tells us not to worry about all those things, but instead to put God’s kingdom and His ways first. When we prioritize faith at the center of our lives, everything else falls into place, and we can trust God to take care of what we need.
Saturday Morning
Session Two: Hiding from God
Bottom Line: We’ve all felt shame and hidden from God
Text: Genesis 3:8–10
Summary: From the very beginning, people have tried to cover up their mistakes. Just like Adam and Eve hid from God in the garden, we often try to hide our sin, guilt, and shame. But those secrets become heavy “bricks” we carry, weighing us down with fear and regret. God still calls out to us, “Where are you?” inviting us to step out of hiding and be honest with Him.
Saturday Night
Session Three: Jesus Carries Our Bricks
Bottom Line: Jesus carries our bricks once and for all
Text: Genesis 3:8–10; Hebrews 4:14–16
Summary: Humanity has always struggled with guilt and shame, which once required repeated sacrifices through a High Priest. But Jesus came as the perfect High Priest, fully God and fully human, and carried our sin to the cross. He took the punishment we deserved, turning our heavy bricks into freedom and life. Because of Jesus, we can approach God with confidence, knowing His response is always mercy and grace.
Sunday Morning
Session Four: Community That Cares
Bottom Line: God provides us community so we don’t have to carry our burdens alone
Text: Galatians 6:2–3
Summary: The camp experience reminds us we’re not meant to do life on our own. Paul teaches that following Jesus means helping carry one another’s burdens—living out the law of Christ by loving God and loving others. God gives us the church as a team where we can pray, encourage, and walk through struggles together. As we return home, we’re called to be that safe community for others, showing them that they don’t have to carry their bricks alone.
